Valentine’s Day Crafting Party Details:
This is what Misha said about styling the party– “Mixing multiple age groups isn’t always as successful as we’d like it to be. But when you give them a super fun activity like making their own custom Valentines… it’s a win win for any age! My inspiration for the decor for this party was a modern black and white floral pattern I had spotted in my travels. This pattern paired with deep reds, bright yellows, and subtle pops of pale pinks made for the perfect, not so traditional Valentine party decor! I love throwing in an unexpected color to the classic holiday decor.
Dessert Table
Besides designing the invite and the tablescape, creating the dessert table is my all time favorite part of styling a party. Having a cake on a dessert table is definitely a must for me! This decadent chocolate layered cake covered with buttercream frosting and sanding sugars was a perfect choice. I also had chocolate dipped strawberry pops. There were also chocolate dipped Madelines, delicious french vanilla cupcakes, strawberry cream mousse and beautifully decorated sugar cookies. There was definitely NOT a lack of sweets at this party!
Simple DIY
I love a good , simple DIY and this party had a few! The decorations on the cake and the cupcakes were a super simple DIY using straws, glitter paper, fun little puffy gold hearts and glittery gold trim. My favorite DIY though, would have to be the cake stand. I simply took a white octagon wood tray I had found at the dollarspot in Target, flipped it upside down and glued it onto a gold candle holder. Whah lah… instant cake stand! Sometimes the easiest things can have the most wonderful impact! To bring the modern black and white floral design that inspired the party to both the dining/project table and the dessert table, I made table runners for both and also added the pattern to a darling banner that hung from the giant circular tulled centerpiece of the backdrop. To create the table runners, I used a white drapery blackout liner which is much like canvas. Then using black acrylic paint, I simply painted on the design. It’s an easy and inexpensive way to add the exact look you desire to any party.
Floral Beauty
Beautifully vibrant flowers placed in varying sized deep red and pale pink glasses lined the middle of the table. I love when I get the chance to incorporate my Grandmother’s antique red glass plates and glasses. And this was the perfect party for just that! On top of the plates were darling gold heart shaped boxes filled with decadent chocolate truffles and topped with a lovely tag that doubled as a place card! For the wonderfully fun Valentine making part of the party, I enlisted the help of my friend Katie from Kittenlicious Creations to style a bar cart filled with all the wonderfully crafty goodies the guests would use to create their Valentine masterpieces! Katie used adorable little white ramekins and little square plates to display all the goodies on. This also made it easy to pick and choose from all the lovlies that would adorn all the cards! The little guests as well as the big guests all had so much fun designing and decorating to their hearts content!”
