Two-tti Frutti Birthday Party
Two-tti Frutti Birthday Party Details:
Cristina’s party description- “It feels like yesterday I was planning my baby’s first birthday party, and this month she turned two! How did that happen? I’m lucky to have a good eater and she particularly likes fruit, so this year’s theme was a no brainer – a Two-tti Frutti party! This is a great theme for a Summer party and since we were heading to Europe, where the weather is warmer, to celebrate this milestone with our families, a tutti frutti party felt just right. It was a small family gathering at a close relative’s house in Portugal. We styled a small dessert table with fresh fruits and some sweets, and there was a side table with drinks, sandwiches, cold meats and cheese.
Balloons and Snacks and Treats!
Both kids and grown ups loved the giant balloon backdrop and the little ones got to pick one balloon each to take home at the end of the party. The cake was the centre piece of the dessert table. I wanted a simple cake resembling a pineapple and a talented family friend brought the idea to life. It was gorgeous and delicious too! I loved serving a colourful tray of cut fruit in front of the cake and freshly cut watermelon pieces. We had a few little guests who preferred the fresh fruit to the sweets on the table and the adults liked having a healthier alternative too, so they were a big hit. I added some small toothpicks with flags to make it easier for guests to pick the fruit pieces, and used the tutti frutti cupcake toppers to decorate the watermelon. I didn’t want lots of sweets for this party, we had orange and mango jelly (always a winner with younger kids) and my mum made brigadeiros (chocolate fudge balls) that I styled as pineapples by placing them in small yellow cups and sticking paper “pineapple leaves” on top. They were pretty cute.
Party Favs!
But my favourite food on this table were the fruit shaped almond cakes. I was born in the Algarve in Portugal and these are tradicional pastry from this region and are a big part of my memories growing up. These precious little cakes are all lovingly handmade by talented local ladies and look almost too pretty to eat. And they taste amazing too! It doesn’t take much to keep the little ones entertained at a party but we had a little colouring station with some matching colouring pages and crayons. This was great for the older kids when they needed a break from running around. I always prefer non-edible party favours, specially with guests this young who may not eat sweets yet. I found the cutest fruit themed plastic cups on sale at my local Target, added some stickers and a yellow party blower with a cute thank you tag and the kids loved them! For the adults we had small chocolate bars with personalised chocolate wrappers. The party was a success and the birthday girl had a blast! I’m enjoying being able to choose the party themes for my daughter’s birthdays while I can, I know there will be a time when I will have no say in it anymore!” Vendors: Printables by My Party Design Photos by Patricia Susan Photography Don’t forget to check out this Tutti Fruitti Summer Soiree styled by Kara!
