Tea for Two Garden Party Details:

This is what Christina said about styling the party- “What better way to welcome spring on a cold day than with a Garden Party for your two year old? I found a boxwood backdrop, which was the jumping off point for the design. I focused on greenery and lush florals. Having the party at home meant that I could use lots of pieces I already had. However, I also had to create the feel with the colours I have already existing. The backdrop went into the family room against the wall dividing the kitchen to the family room and I hung a floral R monogram on the front. A gold occasional table and two wooden children’s chairs created a little spot for pictures and the birthday girl to sit and have her snacks! I draped the chandelier with Italian ruscous, and the drapery poles with more greenery. In the kitchen, more boxwood and a rustic wood look table cover set the tone for all the edibles.

Delicious Delights

Single serving chocolate mousse with edible coconut “moss” were adorned with homemade mini meringue mushrooms. Cookie crumb “moss” covered cookies and mini pink meringue kisses were nestled beside them. On the table was also the cake! As a cake artist I love to trick people with food looking cakes, but in this case I didn’t realize I was going to trick them! The cake was a tin/bucket type with sugar flowers cascading out of the bucket, a “fresh from the market” type look. Most of the guests had no idea that was the cake until I pointed it out. Inside the cake was vanilla bean, tinted different colours to resemble a pink mosaic, and filled with a lilac coloured lemon swiss meringue buttercream. It was a wonderful morning of coffee, tea and treats with friends and kids colouring and playing together. A wonderful indoor garden party.”
