This is what Ashley said about styling the party:
“It’s always difficult coming up with a theme for a one-year-old. So I started thinking about some of Brooks’ favorite things! I decided to do Somewhere Over The Rainbow for the theme because it has been his favorite song that we sing since he was born. His 3-year-old brother calls it the blue bird song. So it was important that we incorporate bluebirds into our decor and invitation design. I strung 100 origami bluebirds, floating from clouds, above the food table. My biggest project for this party was the 95′ rainbow balloon arch behind the cake from Wow Factor Cakes and homemade cupcakes. And I used blue gingham for the linens for a gender neural farmers market-like take on this theme. Our menu, which I hand lettered on a chalkboard, was also farmers market inspired, incorporating parchment paper wrapped sandwiches, an avocado waldorf salad, and an heirloom caprese. For activities, I created sensory bins for the kids to play with – an easy party DIY. And included an interactive “grow with me” favor station, where the kids could choose their pot and plant their own flower – another easy party DIY.”
