Shabby Chic Farmer’s Market Birthday Party Details: This is what Jennifer shared about the party- “The garden party picnic party I threw for my daughter’s first birthday was the perfect laid-back event to bring friends and family together to celebrate our little May baby! I combined classic picnic elements like gingham with feminine florals for a look that was both rustic and girlie. I was inspired by farmers market and country fair themes, so I brought in elements of both with the food and dessert tables resembling farmers market stands, and a yard games area for a bit of a country fair vibe. My husband is the true hero of this party: he built the picnic table, flower and food stands and time capsule table. I painted the wooden signs that labeled each section and designed all of the paper details (available via my shop: Prettiest Print Shop) I kept the front of the invitation simple, with typography inspired by vintage labels. The rose and polka dot patterned back brought in a pop of color and the floral elements. A gingham bellyband framed a kraft paper card asking guests to bring something to add to Claire’s time capsule, which she will open on her 18th birthday. I cut scallops on the bottom of the invitations to add an extra sweet, feminine element. I carried this scallop detail through to other party details, such as the food labels and welcome sign. In addition to the picnic table, we had gingham blankets available for guests to picnic on. We served gourmet sandwiches, pasta salad, kettle-cooked potato chips and fresh berries for the adults. I assembled kid’s baskets with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, juice boxes and bubbles to play with. I came up with the idea of a flower stand for the dessert table and served cake and cupcakes decorated with flowers. Our party favors (zinnias planted in mini flower pots) were also displayed on this stand. We added a picture frame hanging from a tree branch with her first year photo on one side and her birthday facts poster on the other side. We also displayed her monthly and milestone photos hanging from a line on our fence. These added the perfect finishing touch to a special day that was all about celebrating our special girl!” Collect a bouquet of beautiful ideas inside this Romantic Shabby Chic Tea Party and this Shabby Chic Bakery Birthday Party!
