Rustic Modern Birthday Party Details: This is what Aliza said about styling/planning the party- “Designing our sons first birthday party was so much fun and so special! We were inspired by the quote Love Grows Here; it fit our growing family perfectly. So I focused on rustic elements (weathered wood and burlap) and incorporated pattern mixing to make it more modern. My first step was to design his invites with these textures, and I continued the theme in the party decor. The Welcome Table featured an Its Been One Big Year Stats Board, a First Firsts photo board, plus a Love Grows Here guest book tree where our guests (including our baby friends!) left a thumbprint; all are now family keepsakes! I arranged flowering branches in blue sparkling water bottles and covered the labels with the patterned paper. Instead of a monthly photo banner, I used weathered window pane frames to display his monthly photos. It was so cute to have our one-year-old sit next to all of those pictures as we sang him Happy Birthday! One of the most special parts of his party was his dessert table. His cake toppers were driftwood pieces burned with his name in them; we can use these forever! We incorporated weathered wood crates and a wood cake stand, custom signage, and a mixed pattern DIY banner across the front. We also made menu signs for the drinks table, the boxed lunches, plus favor tags for his big bubble wand favors. The picnic tables were covered in polka dot kraft wrapping paper, and for centerpieces we did burlap flowers, baskets of fresh strawberries, his favorite blocks, plus photos of our guests. Lastly, in lieu of gifts, we had guests donate to a non-profit called Watsi. I designed cards and included them in the invites so guests could fill out whom they donated to, plus something special they love about the birthday boy! We displayed the cards at the party and then put them into a special book for him. The only thing more fun than designing and crafting his party was celebrating that day with all of our friends and family! It truly lived up to our theme: Love Grows Here! ” Love Kara’s Party Ideas?
