This is what Summer said about planning/styling her big day- “We got married and celebrated by having a reception at Destarte Bed and Breakfast in Lawndale, NC. This venue was gorgeous from top to bottom and the owners, Glenda and Adam are fabulous! Destarte had the beautiful grounds and landscaping (including their rustic pine tree thicket where Kelly and I were married) we were looking for. There was a charming rustic feel to Destarte’s Wedding Barn that suited our styles perfectly. They also allowed us to use their entire bed and breakfast and two adjacent cabins. This is perfect for couples who want a place for “out of town” guests to stay. My wedding dress was a lovely champagne colored strapless a-line with a flowing tulle skirt and a sweep train. The bodice had a stunning beaded lace detail. I wore a crystal beaded headband and my great-grandmother Sally’s pearl necklace. She would have been proud. Kelly, my groom, wore a perfectly fitted charcoal gray suit.
Rustic Charm
The day was full of rustic charm and fun which totally reflected us as a couple. We were married outside with a pine tree thicket as our backdrop which represents our love for adventure and all things rustic. Also, during our ceremony we not only shared vows with one another but also as a family, with Kelly’s daughter, Kallie. I vowed to always be there for her and thanked her for sharing her dad with me. We made an effort to make guests feel special through our favors. We provided everyone with a jar of my Nana’s homemade jam and a loaf of fresh baked bread. Also, everyone went home with a personalized drink koozie and snack from our candy buffet. We combined our two favorite colors (blush pink and gray) for our wedding color palette. We used gray table clothes, blush pink cloth napkins and vintage china at each place setting. There was a different centerpiece at each table. Some tables had blush pink peonies and wildflowers while others had vintage white lanterns. Our programs doubled as fans and where made exclusively for us with a blush pink design.
Delicious Food
Our reception involved a served buffet of Carolina pulled pork, baked beans, and coleslaw. We had multiple desserts. We had a four tiered ombre ruffled wedding cake with vanilla, amaretto and lemon layers. Each guest received an individual Blue Bell ice cream cup with their serving of cake. We had a full candy bar complete with only pink colored candies. We also had a full coffee bar with Starbucks Frappuccinos for those guests who enjoy coffee”.
