Muted Our Little Sunshine Birthday Party
“From the moment we got home from the hospital, I knew exactly the theme I wanted for Amayah’s first birthday! She brought so much sunshine to our lives and it was only fitting to have a “Our Little Sunshine” theme. I knew I wanted a muted and minimalist (which is more of my event design style) take on theme but it still had to be fun. So I went with mustards, burnt oranges and hints of natural wood and golds for the colour palette. Since we couldn’t actually celebrate with friends and family this year due to COVID-19, we decided to have a milestone photo shoot instead to capture her with her big sisters cutting her cake. She was so happy that morning and enjoyed every bit of the attention she got! A big advice I always give my clients is, if you can’t pick an actual theme, go for a colour palette instead. Have 2-3 main colours with 1-2 complementary/accent colours will help narrow down décor options for everything. This always works so well with all my event designs. I went with a minimalistic design for her milestone shoot by picking nude sail panels for the backdrop. Layering the wood name sign over the sail backdrop added just the hint of interest to the final results. A low picnic dessert table was used for the girls to enjoy all the yummy desserts. Overall, the style was aimed to be minimal with pops of a fall colours.
