Thais said this about planning the party- “This party was designed by Meemo, my party accessories business that is established both in Brazil and Macau, China. My friend and partner Cassia and I decided to create Meemo when we realized we couldn’t find pretty partyware for our kids’ birthday parties. How come we can’t find good stuff for retail in China, where practically everything is produced and exported to the world???!?? After 7 years living in Macau, I moved back to Brazil in December 2011 so I was very excited to celebrate my daughter Sofia’s first birthday party here, among family and friends. Sofia’s passion for everything sweet inspired me to create this Ice Cream Shoppe to celebrate her 3rd birthday. Every detail, from the party colors to the catering and sweets table was carefully thought of and planned months in advance with lots of love. Sofias taste and opinion was my main guide :-)!! The party decor was all handmade in mint green and berry pink colors (thinking about ice cream!) and chevron prints. I really wanted the decor to give away a vintage atmosphere, so the canopy over the desserts table and the pink and white tiled floor were just perfect to complete the look. The flower centerpieces with white carnations and lisianthus were my favorites, and the vintage paper straws with the flags I designed gave just the final touch. The ice cream cake pops, made of carrot cake and Nutella, were the highlight of the dessert table. After searching different suppliers, I found Letícia Villela from Anis Doçaria, explained what I wanted and she worked her magic. She also made the chocolate popsicles, the birthday cake (a heavenly mix of yogurt and berries), the traditional Brazilian brigadeiros and 2 amores that had an ice cream shape. The catering was thought for the kids with all the treats they like the most, from hot dog, to popcorn and cheese bread cones finalizing with mini sandwiches for the adults. All the little ones (and many big ones too!!) loved the milk shake cups. In chocolate and strawberry flavors, they were not just cute but especially delicious. I was very lucky and happy about the wait staff, which was so gentle and smiling all the time. For them I designed some ice cream printed aprons that I had tailor-made just for the party. My main goal was that Sofia would be happy with her party and enjoyed it with her friends, so the recreation was a main attraction. Music and storytelling kept the children entertained while they were not attacking the ice cream station or having fun outdoors on the swing or playing with the lovely polka dot balloons. The face painting and nail bar were the girls favorites, of course. As party favors, I personalized some Chinese carton boxes filled with sweets and an ice cream magnet.
