Groovy Disco Birthday Party Details:
“Emma is beautiful, now seven, full of spunk and intelligent. Plus, she’s a little musical prodigy learning to play piano and drums! You should see this cutie pie ROCK the drums. Oh my goodness, my jaw dropped when I saw! It was only natural Emma would choose a disco party for her seventh birthday celebration! We held the party at the beautiful new premises of the M&M Music Academy, where Emma receives her drumming and piano lessons. Emma’s mom, the lovely Sandy, contacted me and we had just short of two weeks to pull off this monumentally cute, colourful and FUN party! I decided to put a strong emphasis on a retro roller skate derby disco. Naturally, we included boomboxes, cassette tapes, roller skates, gumballs, Slinkies and of course, disco balls in the design. We completely transformed the venue into a groovy disco. At the front door, there was the most striking photo booth backdrop and a sign saying ‘POP-arazzi station- your fans are waiting. Grab a prop and strike a pose.’ Next, the kiddos had to walk through the main door and get checked in by two ‘bouncers’ with a guest list. They were then issued personalized VIP lanyards and funky ‘GOOD VIBES ONLY’ tote bags to fill with all the goodies that awaited them! We set up two eating tables, one for adults and one for kids. The adult table was decorated with a ‘runner’ of disco balls, Slinkies, flowers and jumbo balloons! The the kiddie table was designed at kiddie height, with ghost chairs and personalized pink vinyl names on the back of each. Also, there was a balloon runner down the centre and oh-so-funky boom box party boxes waiting on each chair! The main dessert table had a backdrop that said ‘ROLLIN WITH MY HOMIES.’ It consisted of jellies, cakesicles, butter biscuits, chocolate-covered Oreos and microphone shaped cake pops. Plus, we had a beautiful cake trolley specially designed to carry Emma’s three exquisite cakes. There were ‘POP IT LIKE IT’S HOT’ popcorn cups and a ‘CAN YOU DO THE FLOSS?’ candy floss wall. Finally, there was a ‘SHAKE IT OFF!’ milkshake wall and a ‘DONUT KILL MY VIBE!’ donut wall. The favor table was a plethora of funky gifts for the kiddos. Some of the favors included glo sticks, glow-in-the-dark Frisbees, water bottles, glitter pens, Rubik’s cubes, microphone bubbles, Slinkies, sunglasses and hula hoops. There were also Pop Rocks, 3D tape cassette boxes containing skittles and 3D microphone boxes filled with mini marshmallows. Plus, there were musical stickers, YO-YO’s and pots of glitter slime. Finally, we had guitar cut-outs that were painted with chalkboard paint and topped with balls of silver chalk made to look like disco balls! My favourite favors were the roller skate pillows that I had made for each child. We designed a lounge area as a place for guests to ‘hang out.’ It had a bubblegum pink couch, purple and pink bean bags and two enormous bowls of strawberry popcorn. Next to this, I set up ‘DIVA EMMA’S CANDY CART’ where the kiddies could fill their bags with a selection of sweeties. The kids enjoyed bashing a ginormous roller skate pinata at the end of the party. Plus, in the studio, glittery foil curtains, balloon arches and glitter balls scattered on the floor made an ideal area for the kids to disco dance with DJ MAC! It was a great sugar-high release! As 5pm drew close, Emma did a special drum solo with her drumming teacher. They also got the kids and adults involved in a clap-to-match-drum beat activity. Emma is a rock star and her party was fit for a diva. She is the queen of spunk and I KNOW she had the best party EVER. She was just ROLLIN’ WITH HER HOMIES!” – Debbie | One Pretty Day Love Kara’s Party Ideas?
