Girly Race Car Birthday Party Details: This is what Natalie shared about planning the party- “This party is all about my daughter and her love of cars! Not your traditional 4 year old girls past time. She loves playing with them, racing them and watching them endlessly. Parker loves FAST and often runs “super fast” pretending she is at the wheel of a car, yelling “look out here coooooomes Parker P!” Parker has always borrowed cars from her brother Harrison, so one of her happiest moments was getting her own set of cars and a track. Each car is named and endearingly most have a mommy, daddy and baby car in the family. As an avid crafter I am often spray painting things. One day she asked me to make her cars colors she likes “make it gold mommy!” This one comment set me to thinking about her requested car theme birthday party. Most car party goods and toys are very traditional colors and quite masculine. Why shouldn’t Parker be able to have her car party in the colors she likes, celebrating her femininity and love of pink & gold as well as speed and fast cars at the same time! My mighty girl can have it all! #likeagirl So I set to spray painting masculine tires, cars and race tracks gold and hunting down pink tool boxes and racing gear that could be combined with tulle and tissue décor. Parker’s (and her brothers) love for old Herbie movies and cross country car movies further inspired me to make this party her very own “Cannonball Run”…a cross country road race with a mix of cars, all shapes and sizes, all racing down “Route 4”. Theme done! now for the details… The desert table as a feature represented her own auto shop, complete with tools to get her car ready to race, it also had her race jacket and work gear clipped up on pegboard as a backdrop. I also showcased the road rally trophy and her cake had pride of place in the middle of the table propped up on a giant gold tire and flanked by gold cars and other auto shop details. I then used her favorite sweets to make a pit stop, Jelly Belly’s dispensers in particular made great fueling stations at the pit stop, their gift cans were oil barrels and the jelly belly’s themselves were spare parts. Finally, Sweets Indeed Candy Kabobs made great spare tires so candy made the perfect mid-race pit stop for the kid racers. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a photo booth and this one was a lot of fun, I used a large cardboard cut-out vintage pink car the kids could pretend to drive. This was a big hit with kids and adults alike and Parker played the part perfectly in her helmet, gloves and googles! I had left these at her seat of the eating table in “the lane reserved for Parker”…she even wore the goggles to blow out the candles. Here we also had a “Buff & Polish” station where the kids could get their face painted or have a manicure…it was all the things Parker loves after all! The main eating table had a gold race track and gold cars down the middle of the table, all driving down route 4 which was lined with tulle pom pom trees and road signs. This kept the kids busy while they were eating as they drove cars up and down the table. I was lucky enough to work with Elena at World Wide Party who created some fantastic party printables for me, celebrating vintage cars and Parkers love of pink and hot wheels. She combined all of them into a unique design I adore! Elena created the mini road signs that I used on the tables and for food labelling…for example popcorn row, crudité circle and candy lane. The food table was also line with fantastic cardboard popcorn holders in the shape of vintage pink Cadillac’s, so our little party goers not only enjoyed popcorn but driving it around the party room. Finally, all of Parkers friends were given mini Car-rarium’s to take home. Plastic (re-usable) mason jars with race cars, mini trees, mini toadstools, a finish line flag and glitter snow…we hope they have fun at home creating a magical car world in a jar with their parents and remember the fun time they had helping little P celebrate her birthday …..zooooooooom!” It is fun to put a girly spin on a normally boy party theme.
