Girly Oktoberfest Party
Girly Oktoberfest Party Details:
This is what Annaliese shared about the party- “Being of German descent, and having lived in Germany for just over five years, has given me a big love for Oktoberfest! And I am completely obsessed with the quintessential German dog the dachshund! I grew up with the breed, and have two of my own now. Their adorably long awkward bodies with their long floppy ears, and chunky paws just makes me smile! So I though, what better way to celebrate Oktoberfest than with a weenie-fest?! My graphic design genius friend Jen of Jen T. by Design, was all in for a design that was destined to be looooong on fun! So, dust off your lederhosen, shimmy into your dirndl, and prepare yourself for some weenie dog overload! I remained true to the traditional colors of Oktoberfest. I chose light blue and white, but added in a pop of pink and yellow. If youve ever watched the Sound of Music, youre sure to know the song Edelweiss, which is a flower found in the Bavarian Alps, which is where youll find Munich, the home of the original Oktoberfest. We added little hints of edelweiss throughout the party décor with additions to our straws, utensils, bottle wrappers, and the backs of our adorable little chairs.
Dachshunds
The cute wooden dachshund cutouts were found on Etsy. I stained them a rich brown, then added a flower crown to each. The littles even made their own Edelweiss flower head crowns. The guests loved piling on the flowers! Each guest also painted her own dachshund silhouette. They all turned out cute and unique. The dachshund shapes were pre-traced onto a canvas prior to the event, and the girls had fun adding their own personal touches to them! We had a not so traditional German dinner of cheese pizza (käse-pizza if you want to make it at least sound German!), but I figured most little girls arent too keen on eating bratwurst and spaetzle, and its usually a crowd pleaser so we rolled with it! The medley of desserts consisted of ladyfingers dipped in melted chocolate, which are long and I thought they mimicked the doxies bodies! We also served chocolate dipped pretzels and yummy doxie topped cupcakes.
Activities
After several rounds of the Chicken Dance, getting dolled up and having a fashion show, we rounded out the evening with a movie and candied popcorn, which was served in the cutest cones crafted from paper that Jen T designed. I absolutely love when a theme can be tied together from start to finish! Danke schön for taking a peek into our fun night!
