This is what Annaliese said about styling the party- “I don’t know about y’all, but this whole year has been a blur…and in all honesty, with the hoopla of school events, holiday parties and parades and such, I have yet to finish decorating my tree! Good thing all the aforementioned parties have been at friends’ houses and not mine! LOL! So, while my house was a blank slate ready to be Chrismas-i-fied, I decided to style a little girl’s New Year’s Eve party, full of glitz, glam, and flamingos of course, to welcome in the new year! As a little girl I always pictured New Year’s Eve as a night to get all dolled up to head out on the town, staying up late until that big ol’ ball dropped, then getting a midnight kiss to seal in the magic of a new year ahead. Now of course, I’m lucky if I’m not already in pj’s before 11pm CST to see the ball drop in New York! Funny how being an adult does that! Anyhoo…the former is exactly what I was going for when I styled this girly flamingle. A fun night spent with gal pals complete with a toast to friendship at the end of the night. So grab a bubbly pink mocktail and get ready to dance on the table!
Party Decor
I chose black, pink and touches of gold because to me, it just screams glam! And I just can’t stop fla-mingling! Something about the silly birds with their long skinny legs just makes me smile, so any excuse to doll them up and add them to the decor is a win! I love creating a focal point on the wall, especially one which can double as a photo backdrop for when everyone wants to bust out their phones for selfie time! (Sidebar…I hate the word selfie, but we live in a selfie world, so I’ll roll with it!) As much as I love me some sweets, I don’t love to bake me some sweets, so dressing up store-bought items is a MUST in my book.
Treats and Bubbly
The wonderful Shari’s Berries sent me a box of the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries, and they arrived just in time to be the crowning jewels of the naked cupcakes I picked up at my local Target bakery. And strawberry pink macarons are always a good idea! What NYE would be complete without a midnight kiss?! Seriously though, why kiss a frog at midnight when you could have chocolate instead?! Last but not least, a toast to end the night! I whipped up a quick pink bubbly mocktail, using a combination of lemon-lime soda, cranberry juice cocktail, frozen pink lemonade concentrate, and topped off with fluffy pink cotton candy.
