Garden Picnic Party Details: This is what Romina said about planning the party- “When it came time to celebrate our son Theos first birthday, we wanted to do it in a way where everybody would enjoy themselves. I chose a picnic theme where everyone would sit on towels on the floor. The idea was to stimulate the guests to move around, be it to get food and drinks, be it to watch and play with their kids. I wanted to create sort of a happy mess. It was challenging to work with a picnic theme for a boys party. Most of the store bought picnic decorations I found were girl oriented. Since I wanted the party to have a personalized feel to it, I made the decorations myself. For the color scheme, I followed the pattern of the drawings made by Tuty Artes e Mimos and ended up using red, white and turquoise. All items were carefully handmade, from the wooden cloth covered letters used to spell the babys name, to the small triangular banners made with coated paper. The cachepots were made with small wooden boxes covered in jute. It was the ideal place to set the strawberry sweets from Doce Vício. The strawberry naked cake and the chocolate and whip cream ganache were the perfect choices for the atmosphere of the party. Besides the cake, I also made the strawberry cupcakes, coconut pastry and brigadeiro (a traditional Brazilian sweet). You cant have a picnic without a picnic basket, so thats where we put the guests souvenirs (lots of candies and an apple made of cloth). As to be expected, the babies and older kids had a lot of fun, but it was great to see all the adults being very active and mingling constantly. The happy mess idea worked out perfectly, and the party was a great success”. Items and supplies used in this Garden Picnic Party available in Kara’s Party Ideas Shop:
