Frozen Party Details: This is what Astrid said about planning/styling the party- “With the graphics, I started with creating the girls silhouette, inspired by the silhouettes of Elsa and Anna on the flags seen in the movie. I then created the invitation and based it on Elsas door, with the idea of a gatefold invitation that opens up a confetti of snowflakes to depict the icy cold and to the party info and the silhoette of Zahra behind one door and Imaan behind the other door. I also made a slightly different version to give out to Zahras school friends. These invites took a while to cut, glue and assemble but totally worth it =) Another inspiration from the movie was the beautiful art of Norwegian rosemaling that adorns everything from the costumes to the decor of the castle. Besides the invitation being based on the rosemaling on Elsas door, I also painted plain white Ikea jugs with some rosemaling pattern to be placed on the kids table. Another big job was creating the kids goody bags. There were a shortage of Frozen goody bag fillers so I ended up making nearly everything myself; the Olaf goody bag was printed and cut and then glued on plain white paper bags; I created labels for water bottles, lip balms, captured snow jelly bean packets, frozen bubble, mini tambourines, and we also made frozen-coloured loom bands for each goody bags with snowflake charm attached. The guests were greeted by a large 41 Olaf helium balloon with a speech bubble that said Hi my name is Olaf and I love warm hugs! I would like to welcome you to Zahra and Imaans Birthday Celebration! With the dessert buffet, La Petite Pops created the gorgeous two-tier cake, the top covered in silver foil and the bottom with blue fondant, decorated with snowflakes. I also wanted a castle closest to the castle in the movie- blue and somewhat transparent just like glass – and this was achieved using rice paper. La Petite Pops also created the second birthday cake, the ombre cake, and Svens Cupcakes, Elsas Magical Skates cupcakes, glittery cake pops, and Olaf cupcakes, with every Olaf having a different expression. I made the Ice Jelly shots with Hershey Kisses on top, and the Arandelle Panna Cotta with salted caramel and pashmak pistachio persian fairy floss. My husband and the kids made the white choc dipped oreos with snowflake fondant. Macaron Delights made the macarons. The star of the dessert buffet are the gorgeous Frozen terrariums that my husband made and the custom-made silver snowflake pinata by partyponypinata for the backdrop, sitting proudly in the middle. As this was visually demanding and just absolutely beautiful I made the rest of the backdrop plain with hanging white tissue paper fringes for a bit of texture. The kids table / lolly buffet was all about Anna aka Imaan and it was a warm contrast to the dessert buffet. I worked with cupcakesbybrothersista to re-create Annas rosemaling pattern onto cake pops and cupcakes, and beautiful pink ombre naked cakes. Nectar and Stone provided her gorgeous signature chocolates with gold leaf and Macarons from macaron Delights. All these desserts sat on a cake stand I named the North Mountain. There were lots of other lollies and chocolates to munch on too. We played a few games; Musical Statues (all to Frozen songs of course); pinata; Pin the Tail On Sven; and Lets Build A Snowman, which I pre-made bags of various-shaped marshmallows, pretzel sticks, and eye and nose candy. There was Frozen Face Painting and nearly every child went home with an Olaf or beautiful Frozen patterns on their faces =) All in all it was a great party and I had so much fun putting it all together”.
