“Coming from a long line of rodeo and ranching folks, Sarah wanted to incorporate her heritage into her son Austin’s first birthday party. The décor theme was “Austin’s First Rodeo” and it featured real bull riding paraphernalia from Austin’s grandpa, who used to professionally bull ride in the 1970’s. The goal was to create a ‘earth colored’ chic and sophisticated western vibe, without appearing too playful or childish. Subtle nuances of cowboy décor permeated throughout the party, with cowboy hat shaped pretzels, “cowboy coffee” grab bags, and a “watering hole” full of beverages. The main design element was a bucking bull, hand-drawn by Austin’s grandpa, which was incorporated into the cake, wall décor, and invitation. As a florist, Sarah wanted to make sure that florals were front and centre of the party, and she chose complementary colors that brought together the color scheme of the party. The ”grazing table” was a subtle play on words, and an opportunity for guests to mingle and relax while enjoying a wide variety of cheese and meats, served in a relaxed and beautiful environment.
