Farmer’s Market Party Details:This is what Carla said about planning the party- “Ive been doing cake design and all sorts of sweets and desserts for all kind of parties, but this is actually the first party Ive created and planned. Besides being the first party Ive organized, it was also a very special moment for me and for my family because it was my sons second birthday party! I was waiting for the right moment to create such a party and this occasion was definitely the best. Santiago is the joy of the family, a very sweet little boy who loves fruit and vegetables so I had no hard time choosing the theme for the party. I wanted something cute and different from the regular boys parties themes, and since he actually enjoys fruit and vegetable gardens, I thought that building him a little market with fruit, vegetables and other items was a very cute and funny idea. The very first idea that came through my mind was to build a market stand for the desserts table, a typical and rustic one, and Santiagos grandpa had no hard time to plan and build it in a couple of days. He was proud to help and I was happy to have the market stand Ive imagined. The second step was the invitation witch I think its a very important item for a party. I designed it myself, just like all the other party printables, and the idea was to create some expectation for the guests. I named it O Mercadito do Santiago, Santiagos Market and it was a hit! Here in Portugal were used to have small groceries stores and small markets every corner, all of them with a very familiar rustic look, and I wanted that look for Santiagos party. I looked for wood fruit boxes, a vintage small scale, and even an old steel can used to transport milk. Everything so I could get the atmosphere were used to see in this small markets that sell a bit of everything! I created all the desserts myself and I tried to make them look like market items. There were brownies with mulberries, decorated cookies in banana, watermelon, strawberry and kiwi shape. The cakepops were red and green apples, the laranjinhas (typical Portuguese dessert) looked like oranges. We had also chocolate brigadeiros and the cupcakes looked like lettuces with the bright green creamcheese icing. There were also some individual cups with cheesecake and brigadeiro de colher. But Ive to say my favorites were the macaroons that looked like eggs, placed in real paper boxes, with the fried eggs shaped gummies. The cake was cute with a little boy on the top surrounded with fruit and vegetables! Everything turned out beautiful in the end and the party was a huge success! I was proud that I was able to create and plan my very first party, especially for my son. I enjoyed every single detail and every DIY project! P.S. There were signs in the table that inspired to look like the signs were used to see in the markets so Im going to translate them for you. Near the juice bottles says Para Refrescar To refresh Near the macaroon eggs Ovos caseiros, 2 beijinhos a dúzia Home breed eggs, 2 kisses per dozen Hanged sign on the stand Promoção do Dia Um docinhos em troca de um beijinho Todays Special A kiss for a sweet Near the milk can Leite do Dia Fresh Milk.” Items and supplies used in this Farmer’s Market Party available in Kara’s Party Ideas Shop:
