So excited to show you my latest project for Michaels these DIY INDUSTRIAL INSPIRED FAUX WOOD + METAL LETTERS! Michaels is releasing a new line of products called ‘Raw Bar’ and since I’m a Michaels Maker I got an exclusive sneak peek at the fab product line! I used some of the ‘RAW BAR’ products the make these fun letters. The new Raw Bar products will be available in all Michaels stores nationwide starting August 8th! Raw Bar is a brand new line of products made of or accessorized by materials inspired by nature. Surfaces and textures include: burlap, cork, chalk board, wood, metal and canvas!
Follow my easy tutorial to make these fun industrial inspired wooden + metal letters!
Items needed: Chipboard Letters (available at Michaels) Brads (I found some awesome brads at Michaels that resembled screws. Perfect!) Raw Cork Ribbon (part of the fab new ‘Raw Bar’ line at Michaels) Metal Foil Tape
Step 1- cut cork ribbon into strips and glue onto the front surface of your chipboard letters using a glue stick.
Step 2- cut strips of metal foil tape and stick to the edge of your letters as shown.
Step 3- fold tape under the back of the edge of the letter and stick as shown.
Use a pair of wire cutters or dykes and cut the prongs off the back of the small metal brads.
Step 4- Using a hot glue gun, attach the brad fronts to the letters to create the faux screw + industrial look.
And there you have your awesome wooden industrial letters! At a fraction of the cost they are in stores (very trendy right now)!
