Boho Dreamcatcher Sleepover Birthday Party
This is what Kel shared about styling the party:
“For Isla’s 8th birthday this year she wanted to have a sleepover, so we decided on a Boho Dreamcatcher theme!
SLEEPEE TEEPEES
We decided to host the ‘sleeping’ part of the party using the prettiest teepees you’ve ever seen so they’d all sleep soundly all night (yeah right, haha!). In all seriousness, they are the prettiest teepees you’ve ever seen in beautiful pastel tones complete with lace garlands, dreamcatchers and individual trays for lanterns, sparkly eye masks, and the all-important treats!
BALLOONS
Don’t you just love the color and size combinations and the way the balloons give the illusion of cascading from the first teepee all the way to the last one? The balloon stand is topped with a rose gold metallic personalized ‘8’ and connects perfectly to the balloon garland on the teepee so it looks like one piece – genius!
BOHEMIAN GARDEN PARTY
Every boho dreamcatcher birthday party needs a wicker peacock chair right?! Artificial flowers were fixed in place at the back using their wire stems, along with some artificial tropical leaves which we sprayed rose gold and a few stems of pampas grass. Bright pink plastic garden flamingoes were put in vases and had a makeover with Chalk Paint.
PARTY FOOD
The gorgeous wooden picnic tables, pastel tableware, cushions, and burlap runners looked fabulous on our collection of Aztec rugs as well as offering a really practical solution for the girls who were up and downplaying as well as sitting down to eat. To make the edible teepees we dipped ice cream cones in white chocolate and cut a bigger hole for the chocolate poles made from Salted Caramel Matchmakers before placing them on greaseproof paper in the fridge to set. I’d seen candyfloss topped cocktails on Pinterest that looked really cute so I decided to do similar by fixing candy floss around the straws in the flamingo cups but I didn’t anticipate what would happen to it in the heat so we ended up with a big sticky mess. FAIL!
CAKE
With the dreamcatcher, mix of mint and peach with gold, cute little teepee on the top and the modern Aztec design I really think it pulls the whole party scheme together, don’t you? The flavor was Vanilla Sponge with Mango and Passionfruit Buttercream and a White Chocolate Ganache. Delish! Instead of a cake stand, I turned a white basket upside down then placed a mirror on top.
PARTY ACTIVITIES
To be honest, we didn’t need to set up too many activities because the girls created their own fun in the garden and in their teepees. They played games, watched films from their snuggly teepees (with treats!) and decorated plain pillowcases using fabric paint.
PARTY FAVOURS AND OUTFITS
The stunning mint and cream floral headbands are so gorgeously girly and fabulous against the neon coral personalized vests! In the girls’ party bags were blue and pink mini dreamcatcher making kits, temporary tattoos, personalized canvas pencil cases, the pillowcases they’d decorated and of course, cake!
SLUMBER BREAKFAST!
Every slumber party needs a breakfast of champions with an explosion of balloons right?! To match the colorful cereal we dipped the rims of plastic wine glasses in white chocolate, filled them with a strawberry milkshake and topped them with marshmallows on striped paper straws.
