This is what Whitney shared about planning and styling the party:
“It’s fun to BEE one!… I kept trying to think of a different theme for our almost one-year-old son, as a bee theme seemed to lend itself to something girly. And most of the inspiration I found was rather feminine, although beautiful. However, our son’s initials are B.B.B. and the bees kept coming back to me! I’m so excited with how it turned out and am so glad I went with this theme! We have four boys, so I have done my share of boy parties, this one was fun because it was a bit more challenging and away from the norm.
Venue:
We had the party in our backyard and the weather was wonderful. The balloons along the back of the house were a favorite feature! My husband and I did them ourselves, so it was a labor of love! They did move a bit, but they stayed hanging for the party, so we were okay with that! (I now know why people pay the big bucks for those huge balloon garlands!) We had a few more balloons on a tree near the highchair and cake smashing.
Cakes:
The cakes were a favorite part, especially the bee hive smash cake. (The birthday boy loved it too!) Our local bakery did an amazing job on both of the cakes! They looked beautiful and were so yummy. I made all of the paper things — cake toppers, letters, bees, high chair sign and any other cutouts — with my Cameo Silhouette machine. Plus, I also made the birthday boy’s shirt. I love that it said HONEY, but I tried to also feature the letters ONE as well (hONEy). We had a lot of letter Bs around too, as a play on for “bees” as well as the birthday boy’s initials. I compiled the monthly photos and made a poster including hexagons and it was titled “12 months of sweetness” to see how much he has grown!
Tables:
The tables were simple with white tablecloths and locally grown sunflowers in several of my mom’s white pitchers. Another final highlight was the bee suit and gear from the birthday boy’s uncle. He raises bees and brought his suit as a festive touch to the bee party. It really was a special evening celebrating our honey, Briggs. Our sweet triple B. We are so grateful for these beautiful memories captured by the birthday boy’s Aunt from Eleven28 Photography.”
