This terrific BASKETBALL HALF TIME “HALF” BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Trixy Gardner of A Delicate Gift . This theme is such a cute idea for a half birthday party! I especially love the fun basketball dessert ideas, such as the letterman jacket cookies, the basketball chocolate covered oreos, and the awesome “half” cake! This party is so cute and would work for any kid who loves basketball.
My favorite Basketball Half Time party ideas and elements from this fun event are:
The darling “half” cake The cute letterman jacket cookies The cute “M” backdrop The fun half time flags The cute scoreboard sign and MORE!

Basketball Half Time Party Details:This is what Trixy said about planning the party- “When my son was born my husband and I celebrated for a full year with a small cake each month. The cake tradition continued, but instead of monthly we now celebrate a half birthday with half a cake! This half birthday we decided to honor our son and our love for basketball by throwing a small Varsity Half-Time celebration! The timing was perfect with March Madness in full swing and with this being a half birthday the concept was created into a Half-time of a basketball game. I knew I wanted a simple and modern varsity design for the overall tone of the event, so I selected the first letter of my son’s name (M) as his varsity letter and used navy, light blue/sea foam green, and orange to pull the theme together. The dessert table was designed using a vinyl varsity letter M as the backdrop. I created a bleacher of treats using cabinet rack to raise the treats into tiers. The first row included goody bags filled with various candy such as milk chocolate basketballs. The next row included mini popcorn boxes filled with light popcorn and sprinkled with navy and light blue M&Ms. The third row was lined with cupcakes decorated with a small pendent reading halftime. The bottom row had small baking cups of assorted jelly belly beans. We also had chocolate covered Oreos designed as basketballs and using the varsity letter. A must have for our varsity half-time table were the varsity jacket/sweater cookies! I knew I wanted to have them as cookies! The table was also decorated with two megaphones I made using 3″ varsity letter vinyl decals, yarn Pom Poms, and a larger pendent. We had a few favors such as small gym bags filled with various treats, orange gumballs, chocolate bars, and small tins filled with basketball stickers. We used our printables from A Delicate Gift to monogram each favor. One of my favorites of the party was the concession stand of food and beverages. We served mini burgers and french fries and offered assorted beverages. Here we again used our printables to label our fries, burgeres, and beverages. I knew I wanted the beverages to sit up as bleachers with the waters as the centerpieces jazzed up as cheerleaders using adorable pom poms I had made! The table was complemented with a scoreboard. My little man will always be Varsity to me! Im so happy we could celebrate his half birthday with a Varsity Half-time event and include so many wonderful vendors.”
