Annie Party Details: This is what Eboness said about planning/styling the party- “What a dream come true this styled party was for me to design! From the moment I saw the movie trailer this past summer, I knew that this modern take on the classic Annie movie would be fun to recreate as party theme. I immediately started searching for inspiration on Pinterest, Google, movie trailers, and the new Annie Movie Facebook page. The majority of my inspiration came from social media- Annies FB page featured awesome graphics including the fun NY skyline, hanging sun and clouds, and the jumping Annie silhouette logo. I created an inspiration board with movie references and pretty treats and a color palette I specially named Big Apple Red, Sky Blue, Sunny Yellow, Billow White, and Asphalt for black to keep me centered in the theme as I designed the party. I contacted a Graphic Designer friend to begin working on the printables collection with my inspiration and palette in tow. As the party evolved, I knew that I also wante d to tip my hat to the classic Annie and that is where the iconic Red & White dress came into play. Custom Annie Dresses: While doing another client event I discovered a seamstress in my native hometown of New Orleans. Jawan of Master Touch Fashions had fashioned this gorgeous blouse for my clients party and it immediately clicked that she was who could design and make my Annie dresses. We worked together for 3 weeks via phone and email (Im in Cali) to finalize the design and get the right fit for not one, but four little girls! I had to make special hangers for them of course! I used Red Fabric spray paint on velvet hangers. I then attached custom name tags from the printables package and a pretty red bow to await each girls arrival. I am over the moon about how they turned out- classically Annie, but with a modern silhouette. In the new movie when Annie sings Opportunity she is wearing a gorgeous red dress with glittery silver butterfly in her hair so you guessed it- I searched high and low to find some for the girls to wear! Thank you Hug Sandwich! Cityscape Backdrop and Printables: The movie graphics provided including the actual Annie Move logo served as the perfect inspiration for my printables package. We used the sun and clouds reference from The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow on the party invite, placecards, dessert tent cards, thank you hearts, and Happy Birthday banner. I loved the whimsy of the clouds and sun hanging from strings. The New York skyline was a natural fit and created the most incredible, whimsical, larger than life backdrop for the dessert table. Graphic Designer Gloria Bottaro was a dream to work with, and she captured every bit of what I wanted to convey for all of the art. Sweets Table: I could not have asked for a better sweets line-up including the Artisans who made them! Peace.Love.Sugar was my go to for the cake. She had previously designed a cake I loved with billowy, white, 3D fondant clouds and I knew that I wanted them incorporated into my cake to tie into the theme. Each detail of the cake was exactly what I wanted, from the patterned fondant trim and polka dot,s to the perfectly perched bow as a topper. I asked Cake Poppin to whip up some of her amazing pops and she did more than that. She perfectly crafted an I Heart NY pop that Im still in awe over with precision piped letters and a red glitter heart along with 5 pops to compliment the set. Sweet Baketiques execution of my vision for the cookies was spot on. I asked her if she could do sugar cookies with holes so I can hang them from ribbon/strings like the movie graphics, and boy did she deliver. The pretty sun and fluffy clouds are absolutely darling al ong with the Annie and Hard Knock cookies! I hung the cookies from a Jewelry hanger with narrow grosgrain ribbon. Mammarellas Sweets and Treats created the prettiest candied Big Apples for me. Her gourmet candy drizzle along with a gorgeous Aqua bow for detail was the icing on the cake for these beauties. The square milk bottles from A. Bullard Designs were perfect for the milk and donuts combo. We created cloud tags for the bottles and added ribbon around the neck as a pretty finishing detail. Jumping Annie and Clouds/Sun Die-Cuts: Elena of World Wide Party created the most amazing die-cuts for this party. The cloud and sun toppers, mini Annie toppers, and Annie Centerpiece die-cuts brought great movie detail to the party. I squealed when I received them in the mail from Elena! The Kids Table: I knew that I wanted the linen for the Kids Table to be over the top pretty. The Linen Shoppe was my go to for the billowy white rosette linen. I loved how everything popped against its textures. The acrylic Red and White polka dot plates and bowls were Target finds. They screamed kids party and I knew they would work to enhance the theme. I went with kid-sized white Chiavari chairs accented with Sunny Yellow bows and Statue of Liberty die-cuts from the printables collection. I already owned a 4-ft folding table that could be lowered to the perfect height for my for 4 little Annies! I used the NY cityscape printable from our collection to wrap a glass vase- we reversed the color combo for softness here. I painted a wooden skewer black, hot-glued the large jumping Annie silhouette from World Wide Party to add to the flowers for the cutest centerpiece accent. The ceramic vintage style NY Taxi bank was a gift to me from a friend when I moved from NY some 8 years ago. It added just the right amount of pop on the table and reminded me constantly of my time in NY. I think that is why this party was so much fun to do! I tied black rock candy on a stick to the forks and spoons with polka dot ribbon and thank you heart tags for a simple, yet standout detail for each place setting. Tips: I tend to design with a lot of white for contrast, but you could easily do a color saturated version of this party to suit your taste! As the movie had not yet been released, I used all of the movie trailers I could find to help me craft my vision. I would say watch the movie as often as you need to, to pick up new and unique references that you might incorporate into your very own Annie party”! Love Kara’s Party Ideas?
